Roboty Terms of Use

About these terms

Roboty is operated by Main Character LLC, referred to here as “we,” “us” or “Roboty.” These terms cover roboty.dev, its interactive browser experiments, Roboty for Mac and iPhone, and related Roboty software and services we make available. Contact us through Contact Roboty with questions, privacy requests or legal notices.

Please read these terms before agreeing to use the interactive software. Choosing Agree and use Roboty means you agree to this version. Visiting a page or reading an article alone does not record agreement. If you do not agree, do not start new interactive work. Help and available read-only records, export, Stop and recovery controls remain accessible.

Our Privacy notice explains information handling. Contribution terms apply to the particular sharing or contribution choices they describe. Agreeing here does not select those choices for you.

Who can use Roboty

The initial interactive software and private beta are offered to people in the United States who are at least 13. If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these terms on your behalf and supervise your use. A person agreeing for an organization must have authority to bind it. Public educational articles and Help may be read without agreeing to use the interactive software. Parents and educators can use those materials with younger learners without submitting a child's personal information to Roboty.

We do not currently offer an under-13 software or data-collection program. Do not submit personal information about a child under 13 through applications, contact, diagnostics, providers or sharing features. Contact us if you believe that has happened so we can address it.

Free and experimental software

Roboty's current offering is free and includes experimental features. A beta application does not guarantee an invitation. Features, compatibility and availability can change. We may correct, suspend or discontinue a feature, for example to address safety, security, abuse or maintenance needs. Where practical, we will explain material changes and give reasonable notice of a discontinuation. Applicable legal obligations still apply.

There is no promise that a free feature will remain available forever. These terms do not authorize a charge. Any future paid offering will require separate pricing and purchase disclosures and your affirmative purchase decision.

Your software license

Subject to these terms, we permit you to install and use Roboty software we provide on devices you own or control, and to use its supported local, paired and agent interfaces for their intended purposes. This is a limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable license. It does not transfer ownership of Roboty or authorize you to redistribute our application as your own, sell access to our hosted services, or use our branding in a way that implies endorsement.

We and our licensors retain rights in the software and original Roboty material. Third-party and open-source components, models and assets keep their own license terms. Nothing here removes rights those licenses or applicable law give you, including any permitted copying, modification or reverse engineering. Follow the notices supplied with the particular software or selected material.

For an app obtained through Apple's App Store, Apple's applicable standard EULA governs the application license unless a valid custom EULA is supplied for that app. These Roboty terms apply to the extent consistent with that license. Where they conflict on a matter governed by that EULA, that EULA controls. Direct Mac downloads and development/private-beta installations are covered by the license above, together with any applicable distribution-channel terms. We do not claim that an App Store license automatically covers every installation route.

Responsible use

Use Roboty lawfully and respect other people's rights and privacy. Do not introduce malicious software, overwhelm services, circumvent security or operating restrictions, access another person's installation without permission, or submit material you lack permission to use. You are responsible for the devices, accounts, credentials and third-party services you choose to connect. Their applicable terms and costs remain separate.

Use only authorized targets and supported operations. Approval to read, pair, import a file or use an agent is not permission for a different action. Do not remove safety measures or treat an unavailable capability as permission to bypass its controls.

Simulations, AI and physical robots

Simulations, generated suggestions and explanations can be incomplete or wrong. A successful simulation does not establish that a task is safe or will work on a physical robot. Recorded evidence describes its particular source and conditions. It does not certify another installation or guarantee a future result.

The initial physical-robot path requires a present adult operator. Children do not operate the robot in this path. Eligibility to use the software at age 13 or older does not grant permission to operate physical equipment.

Physical robots can cause injury and property damage. Follow the actual equipment's instructions and the supported setup, operating limits and stopping procedures for your installation. Provide appropriate supervision and keep people and surroundings clear of hazards. Do not use Roboty for a safety-critical purpose or rely on it as a substitute for a required safety system or professional judgment. Only use physical operation when it is actually available and separately authorized. These terms do not enable it or waive legal duties we cannot waive.

Your records and choices

You retain your applicable rights in your experiments, notes and other material. You are responsible for having the rights needed for material you submit or share. When you choose a feature that processes material for you, you permit only the handling reasonably needed to provide that selected feature, consistent with its notice and your choices. We do not acquire ownership of all your local work.

Local records and drafts are not guaranteed backups. Browser storage can be cleared or evicted, and devices can fail or be lost. Use supported export tools to keep another copy of important work. Review a file or public projection before you disclose it. Others may retain material they already received, even if a Roboty-hosted copy is later withdrawn.

Research, model training, diagnostics, provider transmission and public sharing have their own controls. General agreement does not enroll you in any of them, broaden earlier permission or authorize uploading another person's records. The privacy and contribution notices describe the applicable choices and limits.

Warranties and liability

To the extent permitted by law, Roboty is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every threat, compatible with every device or suitable for your particular purpose. To that extent, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and noninfringement. No general description or experimental result is a guarantee of performance, safety or support.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost data or business interruption, arising from these terms or your use of Roboty. Our total aggregate liability for claims arising from these terms or Roboty will not exceed US$50. Multiple claims do not increase that limit.

These exclusions and the cap do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability or remedy that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit. Nothing here removes mandatory consumer rights. Where an exclusion or limit is prohibited, the applicable legal rule governs instead.

Ending use and changing terms

You may stop using Roboty at any time. We may suspend access we actually control for a material breach, security risk, unlawful use or discontinuation, subject to applicable law. We do not promise that ending access remotely deletes your local files. Manage those files and any separate public shares or contributions through their own controls. Ownership, lawful liability limits and dispute provisions remain applicable to matters arising while these terms applied.

The date below shows when these terms were last updated. Material new obligations will be presented with appropriate notice and renewed agreement where required. Editorial corrections alone do not automatically require another agreement. New terms do not retroactively expand research or training permission. An older installed app can retain its bundled terms until a compatible update is provided. Agreement never automatically resumes an interrupted operation.

Governing law and contact

Massachusetts law governs these terms, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and subject to mandatory rights that applicable law preserves. Disputes may be brought in the state or federal courts with jurisdiction in Massachusetts, except where applicable law requires otherwise. These terms do not require arbitration or waive class actions. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. Not enforcing a provision once does not waive it for the future.
