Opening an experiment is not the same as keeping editable work
An incoming file was hidden behind the selected Mac workspace on the iPhone. Repairing that route exposed the separate steps from reported evidence to a saved local revision.
Covers October 14, 2026. Reconstructed later from available records.
The iPhone was showing an idle paired Mac workspace. An incoming experiment file needed local review, but that review was hidden behind the selected workspace.
A file carrying a result was not enough. The person receiving it still needed to find it, understand whose result it was and decide whether to turn it into their own editable work.
Four steps with different meanings
Our October 14 checks began with actual simulations in installed Chrome. The browser retained results and exported a selected experiment file. On the installed iPhone, we repaired the route so opening that file from an idle Mac workspace led to local review.
| Step | What the person has |
|---|---|
| Open the file | Reported source evidence to inspect. |
| Confirm import | A selected record retained locally. |
| Create local intent | Editable work derived from that source. |
| Run a task | A separate, deliberately admitted attempt on a supported execution route. |
The assisted phone walkthrough reached Saved revision after explicit import and creation of local intent. No native simulation ran during the handoff. An imported success still belonged to its source, so recipient wording was changed to describe reported evidence.
Follow the actual route, including retries
The installed Mac revealed an adapter mismatch that direct file tests had missed: its HTTP request carried a JSON string while the browser import adapter expected bytes. Encoding the string as UTF-8 repaired that boundary while preserving byte identity and size limits. The final Mac check opened the Chrome-selected file through the operating-system route, imported it and created local intent.
An earlier post-update workspace opening needed an explicit retry for an unresolved reason. In the browser, canceling an import also left the file selection in place. Clearing it after reading made choosing the same file again work.
These were selected installed Chrome and app paths. Actual iPhone Safari remained unverified after its automation driver refused the session, and public app-link installation was outside scope. On the tested iPhone, native simulation was unavailable.
The completed handoff ended at editable, saved local work. Keeping that endpoint clear makes it possible to offer a useful transfer without implying that opening someone else's result also ran the task here.
